Karma Couture launched in 2009 offering an alternative to conventional retail in the form of resale. The Karma team encourages shoppers to shop second-hand by offering a handpicked selection of fine goods with fair price tags. The selection is endless and ranges from clothes and shoes to jewelry and handbags. The ideology behind Karma Couture is simple: “What goes around, comes around.” And, their clients agree that when it comes to resale shopping, there’s always enough good karma to go around.
The theory behind consignment, in general, is sensible. Karma wonders why anyone would pay retail, when they could pay resale for the same items? Karma makes the transition easy for those who are still hesitant about delving into the world of resale. By offering top-of-the-line labels in quality condition, consumers just can’t turn down the chance to score designer pieces at affordable prices. Open seven days a week with convenient shopping hours, clients can shop either in store or online from home or work, during whichever time they choose.
Because the Karma team understands that not all shoppers are the same, they provide two unique options for purchasing. Clients can either choose to visit the upscale consignment boutique located in Rhode Island or shop online. Shopping in-store is ideal for the local shopper who thrives off of touching and feeling possible purchases as well as trying on different clothing sizes. Yet the online marketplace gives out-of-town or busy shoppers the chance to scroll through pages of finds and purchase with a quick click. Either way, clients are guaranteed clothing racks or webpages filled with unique high-end items for sale. Here’s a taste of what shoppers will find on both the Karma online marketplace and at the Karma Couture boutique located in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

Jill, Nine West, Guess, Chico’s, Talbots, Abercrombie and Fitch, Moda, American Eagle, Cache, INC International Concepts, Levi, Tommy Hilfiger, Old Navy, Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, and H&M.
Consigning with Karma Couture
In addition to stocking up on designer items from Karma, clients are encouraged to sell their unwanted high-end labels. Consignments are processed either in-store or online. Only cleaned and pressed items in excellent condition are accepted by Karma. Consignors must agree to the terms including a 50/50 split for all items excluding premier handbags, which include a split of 60/40.
The contract term lasts for 90 days. If items are unsold after the terms have ended, clients are encouraged to either pick them up or request a shipping return. If a shipping return is requested, the client is responsible for covering the costs. Unsold items are donated to the charity of a clients’ choice if not retrieved.
An inventory report is provided to the consignor upon acceptance to the consignment program. This allows clients to keep track of the items they are selling. Payment is processed by one of two ways; paper checks and store credit. Paper checks are only mailed after a balance of at least $50 is acquired. Checks may take up to 10 business days after they are issued to arrive. Store credit allows customers to retain a balance with Karma to shop with. Doing so gives clients a 10 percent off incentive bonus. This balance is available immediately once a consignor sells an item.
Why choose Karma Couture? There are plenty of consignment stores to choose from but Karma offers a huge selection of hand-selected items that are hard to find at just any other boutique. Karma also gives shoppers more options by offering both an online marketplace and brick and mortar shop in Rhode Island. Karma is committed to providing clients with the highest quality in customer service by offering extra incentives including a loyalty program and special flash sales. Most importantly, Karma is committed to ensuring that all of their merchandise is authentic, virtually erasing the fear of purchasing counterfeit labels. Karma Couture recently won two awards including “Best Consignments Shop in Rhode Island” in both the Rhode Island Monthly annual readers’ poll as well as The Providence Phoenix Readers’ poll.
